HTML5

I’ve been doing quite a but of web work recently in WordPress and I’ve been getting further into understanding HTML5 a lot more.

So with that I decided to update my sites theme and bring it right up to date. And here it is. There’s still a bit of work to be done, but I’m loving the flexibility and user experience of responsive design.

Prometheus!

I try to post more things about design and web design, but this is just too cool not to post. Ridley Scotts highly anticipated Prometheus is moving ever closer to it’s release date – but we’ve been treated to some great viral surfacing online

Out with the old, in with the new!

As a designer, and a consumer, it’s safe to say I’m a fan of Channel 4. They’ve always seemed to pushed themselves in design and, more specifically, video. More4, the BBC3 of the bunch, has a more “30′s +” feel to it, which translates quite well to video, so I’ve been fan of the stings for a while. So when I heard that there was a re-brand afoot, I was sceptical.

It’s pretty difficult to turn something you think is very good into something modern, fresh and in the end better. The agency that’s transformed the brand is London based ManvsMachine – and it’s pretty awesome piece of work I think

You should check out ManvsMachine’s Vimeo channel as well as the brand concept works at it’s best (I think anyway) in there live action idents

Layer Tennis

Layer Tennis Season 3 Recap from Coudal Partners on Vimeo.

This is Layer Tennis – and it’s awesome! It’s pretty self indulgent designer wank, but you know, i like it! Here’s the official description of what Layer Tennis is…

"What Is Layer Tennis?"

"This is the Third Season of our live design events called Layer Tennis. Matches are played using video, animation, sound, photos, type and lots more, but the basic idea is the same no matter what tools are in use. Two competitors swap a file back and forth in real-time, adding to and embellishing the work. Each artist gets fifteen minutes to complete a “volley” and then we post it to the site live. A third participant, a writer, provides play-by-play commentary on the action, as it happens. A match lasts for ten volleys and when it’s complete, Fans tell us what they think and we declare a winner, so sign up today."

Here’s also a nod to Jim Coudal from Coudal Partners, who’s made me feel a little bit more creative this morning. :)

New addition to our Web Team

During the period where my MacBook screen had gone and before I had taken the plunge and bought my MacBook Pro, I had no option but to hook up my laptop up to my TV to get projects finished. Unfortunately, this resulted in my cat Rufio taking an interest in my work – specifically whenever I was using the mouse (which is all the bloody time)!

I’ve still not checked my TV property since to find claw marks – the little bastard.
